Ready for a new take on the old fashioned "super hero" birthday party? Check out these great ideas for invitations, activities and a photo gallery for inspiration.
Newspaper Articles from Hero Daily Herald or Superhero Times are a great way to invite your friends to a Super Hero Party. If you intend to have a costume party, make sure it’s announced in the headline so that everyone is aware!!
Another idea is comic strip invites. This can be done easily at home. Cut out any comic strip that you would like to use. Paste your own desired dialog on top of the dialog in the comic strip, making sure to include the date and time of the party. Scan the finished product and print out the desired number of invites to send to your friends.
The main decorative focal point for our super hero parties is a movie projector showing retro super hero cartoons on a jumbo screen, or a wall. This provides background music, gives the kids something to keep them occupied while arriving at the party, and adds a whole other level of fun to your super hero party. If you do not have a projector available, you can play soundtrack music from any of the more recent superhero movies. Fog machines and strobe lights could be used, but we recommend more for older kids parties.
Party colors can vary depending on who your child’s favorite super hero is. Balloons, plates, table covers and the cake could all represent your favorite super hero. Our favorite idea is to fill the room with black and light grey balloons, and cover the tables with newspapers. Try to stick to Sports, Local Highlights, Classifieds and comic strips. No need to bring down the spirits of your party guests by a poorly placed Obituary section or Political scandal. By using newsprint colors to decorate, your brightly dressed party guests, especially if you’re hosting a costume party, will give the appearance that the comic strips are coming to life.
The “goodie bags” and favors could include stickers, pop-rocks, atomic fire bombs, jaw breakers, silly-putty, slime, and flashing bouncy balls. Visit our Party Shop for a full list of online retailers.
If you plan to video the party, have someone dressed as a reporter to interview the guests, and play it back at the end of the party.
If you want to finish off the party in a memorable way, send thank you cards that are a follow up to the invite. Newspapers complete with pictures from the party, or a comic strip highlighting the fun everyone had at your party. Make sure save a space where your child can write a personal note to the guest.
